Printers, Automation, Kitchen Stations & Kitchen Receipt Customization – Complete Configuration Guide

This article provides a full overview of all printing-related settings within the POS system, covering:

  1. Printer Profiles & Setup

  2. Automation of Printing Tasks

  3. Kitchen Stations (Printer Routing)

  4. Kitchen Receipt Customization

Proper configuration ensures efficient order handling, accurate kitchen communication, and reliable printing workflows for both the front and back of the restaurant.

1. Printer Configuration

The Printers section allows you to assign different printers for receipts, kitchen orders, labels, and backup tasks. You can also create multiple printing profiles to match different operational setups.

1.1 Adding a Printer Profile

You can create a new printer profile by entering a name and selecting Add.

Profiles are useful when you:

  1. Operate multiple branches

  2. Switch between dine-in, takeaway, or hybrid setups

  3. Test new printers without affecting the live environment

Show Choices on Labels

1.7 Installing CashDeskConnect

To use local printers, the CashDeskConnect tool must be installed.

This utility:

  • Detects connected printers

  • Enables stable printing from the web-based POS

  • Supports USB, network, and label printers

A blue button is available for installation.

2. Automation Settings

Automation determines when receipts, kitchen orders, or labels should automatically print.

  • Kitchen Receipt for Online Orders

Both settings automate printing as soon as an online order is received.

Great for:

  • High-volume packaging

  • Multi-item orders

2.7 Receipt Copy Settings

Example: 1 copy

You can define how many copies are printed for:

  • Customer receipts

  • Kitchen tickets

2.8 Kitchen Receipt Naming Style

Two options:

  • Normal: Prints the menu name

  • Alternative Name: Prints the internal kitchen name configured for the product

2.9 Group Choices on Customer Receipt

Groups selected product modifiers under a single section for better clarity.

3. Kitchen Stations (Printer Routing)

This is the section missing in previous documentation — now fully explained.

The Kitchen Stations module controls printer routing, determining which kitchen printer receives which products.

3.1 Purpose of Kitchen Stations

Kitchen Stations allow you to:

  1. Divide the kitchen into separate preparation areas

  2. Route specific products to specific printers

  3. Improve workflow efficiency

  4. Prevent irrelevant items from printing in the wrong area

For example:

  • The Sushi Station only receives sushi items

  • The Grill Station prints burgers and grilled items

  • The Drink Station prints beverage orders

  • The Dessert Station prints desserts

3.2 How Routing Works

Each kitchen station:

  • Is assigned to a specific kitchen printer

  • Can receive only the products you assign to it

  • Will print tickets automatically when the order includes matching items

When properly configured:

  • Staff only sees products relevant to their section

  • Ticket noise is reduced

  • Accuracy improves significantly

3.3 Adding or Editing Kitchen Stations

In the Kitchen Stations section you can:

  • Add new stations (up to the system’s limit)

  • Assign printers to each station

  • Choose which products print where

Stations are displayed as 0/16 added, indicating how many are active.

4. Kitchen Receipt Customization

This section allows granular control over the information printed on kitchen tickets.

Each line item includes:

  • Toggle to show or hide

  • Font size selection

  • Bold option for emphasis

4.1 Customizable Fields Include:

  13. Product Notes

  14. Prices
