Delivery Settings – Full Configuration Guide
The Delivery Settings section controls how delivery orders are calculated, routed, priced, tracked, and optimized. These settings directly affect delivery accuracy, courier efficiency, customer satisfaction, and operational control.
This section is essential for restaurants that manage their own couriers or use driver apps and route planning.
1. Order Delivery
1.1 Delivery Policy Restriction
Example: None
This setting defines what happens when an order is placed outside predefined delivery zones, especially when orders are entered manually.
Available behaviors typically include:
-
None – All orders are allowed, regardless of location
-
Warning – A warning is shown when the address is outside the delivery area
-
Strict – Orders outside the delivery area are blocked
This helps prevent accidental acceptance of undeliverable orders.
1.2 Default Delivery Costs
Example: €0.00
When an order cannot be matched to a specific delivery zone, the system applies this default delivery fee.
-
If set to €0.00, no extra charge is added
-
Useful as a fallback for manual orders or exceptional cases
1.3 Free Delivery Threshold
Example: €0.00
Orders that are not linked to a delivery zone become free of delivery costs once the order total reaches this amount.
-
The order total is calculated excluding delivery costs
-
Encourages higher basket values
2. Average Order Delivery Time
2.1 Average Delivery Time
Example: 40 minutes
This value defines the average time needed to deliver an order after preparation.
It is used for:
-
Customer time estimates
-
Courier planning
-
Route optimization
-
Internal dashboards
Accurate configuration helps manage customer expectations.
3. Route Settings
3.1 Default Vehicle
Example: Bicycle
This defines which vehicle type is selected by default when assigning delivery jobs.
3.2 Vehicle Speed Configuration
You can define average speeds (km/h) per vehicle type:
-
Car – e.g. 40 km/h
-
Scooter – e.g. 25 km/h
-
Bicycle – e.g. 15 km/h
-
Electric Bicycle – e.g. 20 km/h
These values are used to:
-
Estimate delivery times
-
Calculate routes
-
Optimize courier assignment
Accurate speeds improve ETA calculations.
4. Street Autocomplete Service Provider
4.1 Selected Provider
Example: Pro6pp
This provider is responsible for:
-
Address autocomplete
-
Street name validation
-
Postal code matching
Changing this provider affects how addresses are entered and validated.
Note:
Changing providers usually requires support involvement.
5. Map Provider
5.1 Selected Map Provider
Example: GraphHopper
The map provider is used to:
-
Verify address locations
-
Calculate routes
-
Estimate distances and travel times
GraphHopper is commonly used for reliable routing and performance.
6. Maximum Change (Courier Balance Limit)
6.1 Maximum Allowed Change
Example: €500.00
This setting defines the maximum cash balance a courier may have when being assigned new orders.
-
Prevents couriers from carrying excessive cash
-
Improves security and accountability
If the courier exceeds this amount, new orders cannot be assigned until balance is reduced.
7. Payment Settings (Delivery)
7.1 Couriers Have Mobile PIN
When enabled:
-
The Driver App shows a card payment option when completing deliveries
-
Enables card payments at the door
Recommended only if couriers are equipped with mobile PIN devices.
8. Driver App Settings
8.1 Location Update Interval
Example: 10 seconds
Defines how often the Driver App sends the courier’s location to the system.
-
Short intervals = more accurate tracking
-
Longer intervals = lower battery and data usage
Choose a balance between precision and performance.
9. AI – Smart Route Planning
9.1 Enable Smart Route Planning
When enabled, the system automatically optimizes delivery routes.
This feature:
-
Groups orders logically
-
Minimizes total delivery time
-
Uses the Travelling Salesman / VRP algorithm
-
Takes into account:
-
Vehicle type
-
Vehicle speed
-
Number of orders per courier
-
Recommended usage:
-
High order volume
-
Busy periods
-
Multiple couriers operating simultaneously
